No Bazinga! Big Bang Theory cast honours Stephen Hawking

Renowned physicist Professor Stephen Hawking has died at the age of 76 after a lifetime of struggle, controversy and stunning achievement.

He was also a vocal champion of the NHS, and until his final months sparred with Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt.

While astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has become a pop culture figure as well for bringing science to the masses, Ingram says Hawking stands out because it was his research and work that defined him. But he was also a critic of the direction mankind was taking, as we'll see...

MND is the collective name for a group of diseases that affect the nerves in the brain and spinal cord that control movement.

The couple split after 25 years and he married his former nurse, Elaine Mason, but the union broke down amid allegations, denied by him, he was being abused. He beat the predictions. This could assist in time travel by allowing a person to move either forward or backward through the tunnel to their destined period in history or the future. But the tragedy is that "by denying the evidence for climate change, and pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement, Donald Trump will cause avoidable environmental damage to our beautiful planet, endangering the natural world, for us and our children".

In 2013, Hawking received many awards for his memoir "My Brief History". And what we learned from them. "I just found it so moving that I felt that I had to try and do something with it, or with him or something, in some way". His theories unlocked a universe of possibilities that we & the world are exploring.

"I like simple experiments - and champagne".

At the time, several bestselling physics authors had already published non-technical books on the early Universe and black holes. "I don't know an operational way to give the question or the answer, if there is one, a meaning".

This was a messy collection of papers from a technical workshop on how to devise a new theory of gravity. When I have built up a sentence, I can send it to my speech synthesizer. By the mid-1980s, it had been replaced by another candidate for the Theory of Everything, called string theory. "Overcome the odds. It can be done". "My latest computer ... contains a webcam which I use with Skype".

He leaves behind three children, Robert, Lucy and Timothy from his first marriage to Jane Wilde, and three grandchildren.

But Prof Hawking's life was exceptional. Rather than one particular keyboard or software system, the "product" that Hawking promoted was the concept that physical limitation cannot hamper the human mind. His character was an inspiration to millions.

The Big Bang Theory cast also paid tribute to Prof Hawking, who guest starred in 2012 episode "The Hawking Excitation" that featured theoretical physicist Sheldon (Jim Parsons) yearning to meet his hero.

The actor who played Stephen Hawking in a film about the scientist's life has described him as the funniest man he ever met. "They are not eternal prisons they were once thought". People with the condition lose control of muscle movement, eventually losing their ability to eat, speak, walk and, ultimately, breathe. The extraterrestrials would probably be far in advance of us.

His international reach was demonstrated in China, where news of his death generated nearly half a billion clicks as fans bade farewell on social media platform Weibo to a "giant star". "We've created life in our own image". His endurance, his bravery and his productivity were humbling and remarkable. One thing is certain though. "Let's not place humanity in the position of those ants", he said. We owe much to Professor Hawking's example.
