The camera is where the G7 can outpace the S9, if LG is smart.
Paying lip service to AI - which is all this ThinQ nonsense really is - isn't helping LG with the perception that its smartphone division is struggling to innovate. LG believes that this translates to more than ten times the loudness than that of an average smartphone. According to LG, the G7 will be capable of hearing the user from a further distance, and it will pick up the user's voice even in noisy places. The phone comes in a couple of RAM and storage options- one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and the other one with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It has a 1,000 nit rating, along with six different viewing modes to optimize the display.
The G7 looks a lot like a lot of other smartphones right now. The top half houses vertically placed dual camera modules with LED flash and IR sensor for laser auto-focus. It'll be fine for most of us in the UK, then.
ThinQ software tries to pick the best shooting mode for your content, using algorithms entirely on the device-there's no cloud-based aspect. It can help identify objects, creatures, landmarks, and more simply by having you hold your phone up to something or by scanning a picture you took. It's clad in Gorilla Glass 5 front and back, and will be available in the UK in blue, black and "platinum" grey, all with a glossy finish that attracts fingerprints like crazy. LG skips on the 3.5 mm headphone jack here.
LG's new rear camera on the G7 consists of one 71° 16-megapixel sensor with an f/1.6 aperture and a second 107° 16-megapixel sensor with an f/1.9 aperture. Recently, camera samples shot from the smartphone surfaced online hinting at a 16-megapixel primary sensor of aperture f/1.6. The Vision AI itself has three elements - AI CAM, QLens and Bright Mode. I didn't have time to experiment with them all, but we certainly will do when it comes to doing a full review.
There's a very good chance that the OnePlus 6 could end up being the better phone out of the two. When asked why LG decided to stick with just one, the company told AndroidHeadlines that it thinks that a single-firing speaker that is loud - without distorting the sound - is better than going with stereo speakers that would give you the same volume level. Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 Technology and wireless charging are both included. It also packs a Hi-Fi Quad DAC.
Dolby is a well-known company in the cinema and home theater space, involved in the design of cutting edge technologies used on both the video and audio side of professional and consumer equipment. Engadget says some markets will get a G7+ ThinQ version with 6 GB of memory and 128 GB of storage.
These new flagships claim to offer deep AI integration for maximum user convenience. We will also be mentioning the features that we expect to be present on the G7 Thinq.
Additionally, long pressing the side key will let you talk to the Assistant.
The phone also has "Super Far-Field Voice Recognition". We'll update this article when we hear more. The iPhone X has a notch and, therefore, so too must the new LG phone.
