New York's attorney general has announced his resignation after four women accused the Democrat of physically abusing them. The story describes the accusers as "articulate, progressive Democratic feminists in their forties who live in Manhattan".
A third former partner claims she received similar treatment, and a fourth woman claims Schneiderman slapped her hard enough to leave a mark the next day when she rejected his advances.
While voicing confidence in Singas, he criticized the governor's decision to supersede the Manhattan DA's office in the Schneiderman investigation with the special prosecutor, saying that the "charging and jurisdictional decision making should be left to independent prosecutors who are answerable to their local constituents".
Colbert also mentioned that Schneiderman was investigating Harvey Weinstein.
Scheniderman has said that other allegations towards him were formulated from sexual "role playing" that he had engaged in, but Guilfoyle disputes that.
Some Republicans have celebrated the demise of Mr Schneiderman. He brought charges against many state elected officials and routinely heaped brimstone of contempt on them.
Mr Cuomo said he would ask a prosecutor to investigate the allegations.

Schneiderman will be replaced in the interim by Solicitor General Barbara Underwood.
"After the most difficult month of my life - I spoke up", Ms Manning Barish wrote on Twitter after the allegations were published.
"There can be no suggestion of any possibility of the reality or appearance of any conflict, or anything less than a full, complete and unbiased investigation", Cuomo said.

As for the election, New York's statewide races generally lean Democratic, but Republicans are hoping Schneiderman's woes could give them an opening. Republican Manny Alicandro, a corporate lawyer, launched a campaign shortly before the news broke.
